CHURCH HISTORY
The Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church Debre Iyesus in Bergen was founded in 2011 and formally incorporated 5 March 2011.
The church is a formulation of the basics from the Eritrean Coptic Church’s canon law from the 29th September 1992. The church can help advise from the laws of the Eritrean Coptic Church . The church should be a place where the handing over of the church’s Holy Tradition and experience of our Orthodox ancestors and all Orthodox Christianity preserved as a treasure . It should be a community of believers who gather consensus around its heavenly Lord, Jesus Christ.
The Holy orthodox church organized itself operates through several Orthodox Christian believers who settled in Bergen and neighboring communities . The Holy Coptic church will conduct its worship in a community center in Bergen. The church is still in the initial phase , and has currently already well over 210 members. The Eritrean Church Society is to help make the Orthodox Church traditions and more accessible to all Eritrean orthodox believers and all other interested.
